Responsabilities
Vroom Vroom was made in one month during my third year at IIM. Our constraint was to make a couch game and we chose to make it a turn-based racing game.
I took care of part of the game design at the beginning of the project, especially on core gameplay and some pitfalls. Then I worked on all the level design of the game.
Level Design evolution
After several paper iterations of the circuit, on its shape and length, and the gameplay objectives, we produced an artist’s vision of the race. We used my RLD documents and the movements prototype created in Unity by the programmers.
I wanted a circuit with many curves, some shortcuts and many moveable obstacles on the path.
I also used a first blockout version of the cirtcuit to test the game’s checkpoint system. He had to correctly display the distance covered by each player in real time and their position on the leaderboard compared to the others.
After some modifications in the initial blockout, we worked on the worldbuilding of our game. I took care of implementing each asset in the engine and Level Art. I placed each asset to make this children’s room universe visually coherent and fun.
